Mrs. Ross & Ms. Irish

School Council

This year School Council meetings will typically occur once a month on a Monday.  Our first meeting of the year is scheduled for Monday Sept. 17th @ 6:30 pm.  We are looking to fill several positions (President, chair, secretary, treasurer...) and are looking for new members to join.  School Council is responsible for running several fundraising efforts throughout the year and for planning some fun activities that occur within our school.

FUNd Fair

The FUNd Fair is an evening of games and activities put on by the School Council and SDA staff.  It is a great opportunity to come see your child's class, meet their teachers, and support our school by participating in some of the fundraising activities.  At the FUNd Fair there will be several games to play throughout the school.  Tickets can be purchased for $2 and there are typically about 5-7 different games set up.

Every year we do a basket raffle of theme items for each class.  Parents are asked to donate some small items to add to the basket.  Our theme this year is "camping."  Some possible ideas may include: marshmallows, camping games, hot cocoa, flash lights, etc.  Tickets for baskets can also be purchased for $2.

Pizza, pop, and tickets can be purchased ahead of time on School-Day.  Popcorn will be sold the night of the FUNd Fair.  New this year we will be having a cake raffle.  We are hoping to have 10-12 cakes to put out.  If you are able to donate a cake it would be greatly appreciated.

School Bus Pick Up

If someone other than your immediate family is planning to meet your child at their bus stop it is important to make sure that the bus company has this information.  They are asking that a letter is provided in writing listing the bus #, stop address and the name of the person/people authorized to pick up the student.  Siblings who are not old enough to babysit are not permitted to be the designated pick up.

Parent Volunteers

We would love to have you come volunteer in our classroom or on our school trips.  In order to be able to assist us at school you must first complete a criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening.  This can be done free of charge at the local OPP you just need to request a form from the school office.  Background checks can sometimes take several weeks so it's a good idea to have it done now if you think you may like to volunteer throughout the year.

Instructions for signing up will be sent home with our new students.  SeeSaw is a fantastic app that allows us to celebrate each child's learning by sharing photos of things they are doing/learning about in class. An individual folder is created for each of the students in the class where photos can be shared (instantly) with the families.
