Sight Words

For the students who are now able to identify all of the letters of the alphabet and most of their corresponding sounds we will be sending home some sight words to practice.  Sight words are words that students need to learn to recognize "by sight."  They are words that come up often in text (high frequency) and are sometimes not easy to sound out phonetically.  Some examples of common sight words are: the, said, little, look, away, can, etc.

On the menu to the left we have attached a link to with some valuable tips and suggestions for making sight word practice fun.  As students become familiar with the words we have sent home new ones will be added.  We ask that you please review these words as part of your daily reading.

A link to the April school newsletter has been added to the menu to the left.  You may also find it in the backpack link on the school website.
