The end product will be judged by local experts in the field and winners have an opportunity to represent their school and SMCDSB at the Skills Ontario competition in May.

At a news conference held today in Bradford West Gwillimbury, MPP Ann Hoggarth announced $10.7 million in new funding to replace St. Charles Catholic School with a brand new facility. This replacement school will reside in the same location as the current St. Charles in Bradford and will have space to accommodate 470 students, as well as two child care centre rooms.

New Childcare Spaces Announced for Catholic Schools

The Ministry of Education recently announced funding for new childcare spaces at St. Bernard's Catholic School in Orillia and Saint Mary Catholic School in Huntsville. St. Bernard's was approved for $2 million in funding for a school addition, which will accommodate 49 childcare spaces and one child and family support room. Saint Mary will benefit from $1.1 million in new construction, resulting in 39 new childcare spaces.

For the first time in several years, enrolment has increased in both the elementary and secondary levels at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB).
