Do I need to be Catholic to work at SMCDSB?

You must be Catholic for the following positions: Teacher, Designated Early Childhood Educator, Principal, Vice-Principal, Superintendent, Associate Director and Director. Applications for these positions must include a pastoral reference.

Being Catholic is not a requirement for all other positions.

Do SMCDSB applicants require a criminal background check?

As an applicant you do not require a criminal background check (CBC) but if you are offered a position with our board you must provide an original CBC including the Vulnerable Sector Screening and it must be dated within six months of the date of your interview.   You will be provided with the necessary paperwork to obtain a CBC at the time of your interview.

I am a retired teacher from SMCDSB, can I work as an occasional teacher?

Yes. Retired teachers from the board can apply for the supplementary occasional teacher list. You can work for a maximum of 50 days per school year.

Please visit our current job postings page for details on the supplementary occasional list.

I have applied to your board, when can I expect to be contacted for an interview?

As you can appreciate, the Board receives a large number of applications and not all applicants are granted an interview.  Should you be selected for an interview our HR department will be in contact with you via email.

What type of interviews does SMCDSB conduct?

At SMCDSB we conduct behavioural interviews.  You will be asked to draw your answers to the interview questions from personal experiences.
